Sandhya Mridul back on TV with desi adaptation of ‘Homeland’

The powerful actress is back on the small screen

Sandhya Mridul was one of the few senior actress who made a successful transition from TV to films with projects like Saathiya and Page 3. As per reports, Nikhil Advani is adapting the popular USA series ‘Homeland ‘for Star Plus. It is tentatively titled ‘Prisoners of War’. Sandhya Mridul plays the main protagonist on the show.

The US thriller series that aired in 2011 was based on an Israeli series that has already aired five successful seasons. The show is very popular all over the world. Famous Indian actress Nimrat Kaur also did a role in one of the seasons.

Sandhya started her career with Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Koshish Ek Aasha’ and later went on to do many Bollywood films. She did ‘Jhalak Dikhlaa Ja’ season 2 but had been away from limelight for a while. She was last seen on Star Plus’ show Private Investigator and in a film called ‘Angry Indian Goddess’. The film was a critical success and her performance was much appreciated. Sandhya will play the part of Carrie Mathison who is the head of Central Intelligence with a biopolar disorder.

Nikhil who has directed films like ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘Salaam E Ishq’ is adapting the political thriller series keeping Indian sensibilities in mind. Talking about adaptations, we already have 24 Season 2 on air, which is from the American series 24 that has Kiefer Sutherland in the lead.
