After receiving a phenomenal response in India and other international countries, the director of PK will now release the film in Japan!
Rajkumar Hirani‘s films have barely had a blink and miss effect at the box office. Every time the filmmaker’s movie releases, it only creates a havoc at the box office and even rakes in a lot of big bucks. One such film to have created big records is PK. Although Salman Khan’s Sultan managed to beat PK’s records, one will always remember the film for a lot of reasons. Starting from becoming a big minting machine at the box office to causing a royal debate on religion and even hurting sentiments of the public, the film has forever been mired in controversies. But that hasn’t stopped Hirani as he now plans to release the Aamir Khan starrer in Japan!
PK is all set to release in Japan now and director Rajkumar Hirani is already there. The Japanese market is not a traditional market for Indian films, so only a handful of them have released there like Dhoom 3, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and 3 idiots. Hirani says, “After the overwhelming response to 3 Idiots, I am excited about taking PK there. I am looking forward to the audience’s reactions to the film and hope they love this one too. This is my first trip there.”
The director is a fan of Japanese cinema and has seen all the classics. He reveals, “I’m a huge fan of Akira Kurosawa and have seen many of his films including Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Red Beard and Roshoman.” The filmmaker will be meeting some contemporary film makers and actors from Japan too. Any plans for an Indo-Japanese collaboration? “I have no plans of collaborations yet,” he signs off.
