Both the actors have had previous releases which had better numbers at Box offices than Dishoom
Varun Dhawan and John Abraham starrer Dishoom made Rs 37.32 crore in the opening weekend. However there is nothing to rejoice for either of the actors as this is not the first time that their movies have opened to such great numbers.
For Varun Dhawan, Dishoom failed to match the opening weekend collection of his previous release. Dilwale’s first weekend collection was as high as Rs 64.09 crore. Dishoom has however becomes Varun’s second highest grosser followed by Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania which was at Rs 33.74 crore. Prior to this, ABCD2 made Rs 29.30 crore and Badlapur made Rs 24 crore in its opening weekend.
Coming to John, even he has managed to do better at the box office in comparison to Dishoom. His previous release Welcome Back, made Rs 51 crore, while Race 2 made Rs 51.35 crore and Housefull 2 earned Rs 43.2 crore in its opening weekend. In fact for John, Dishoom ranks at number four which is not a great thing. Probably the movie will pick up with a good word of mouth publicity.
So though the movie opened to a good numbers in the opening weekend, there is nothing to rejoice as we have seen both the stars performing better individually at the box office. We can now hope that the movie takes up pace and performs better than their previous releases in coming weeks. Dishoom also has an advantage that it was a solo release and no big movie releasing along with it and also in the coming week it has no serious threat or competition as such.
