The superstar reportedly refused to promote Rustom on Comedy Nights Bachao and opted for The Kapil Sharma Show instead after the Housefull 3 fiasco
Humour if used in an unwise manner can be annoying. It seems like Comedy Nights Bachao is paying the price for the roast format. Quite a few actors are hesitant to appear on the show because of that. The recent buzz is Akshay Kumar refused to promote his period drama Rustom on the show and instead chose The Kapil Sharma Show, which is milder in nature. If you remember, there was a lot of hullabaloo when Akshay Kumar reportedly took comedian Siddharth Jadhav to task after he called Lisa Haydon a ‘black African’ and ‘kangaroo’ on the show. The actress who does not understand Hindi could not fathom half of the jokes cracked at her expense. Though it was later termed as a prank, a lot of commotion got generated over the issue.
This could be the reason why he chose not to promote Rustom on the show. When we contacted Karan Wahi, who is a part of the programme, he said, “I am honestly unaware of this matter. I was not there during the Housefull 3 episode. We have not rehearsed for any episode around Rustom so far.”
Another actress on the show told us, “See, even if something of this sort happened, it is on the team level i.e. production house, channel and actors. We as actors/performers would not be in the loop. However, I have not shot for anything related to the film.”
As of now, there are many reality shows on air so skipping one won’t affect Rustom to a great deal. It should be noted that even Ileana D’Cruz is not very conversant with Hindi language. It would have made sense to skip the show given the film’s content.
Rustom, directed by Tinu Desai has Akshay Kumar, Ileana D’Cruz and Arjan Bajwa in main roles. It is based on the infamous KM Nanavati case. Stay tuned for more updates on the show…
