Akshay Kumar chooses The Kapil Sharma Show instead of Comedy Nights Bachao to promote Rustom!

The actor has a very valid reason behind this decision! Check it out here…

In recent times, there has been talk of some actors not being comfortable making an appearance on Krushna Abhishek’s Comedy Nights Bachao (CNB) because of the show’s ‘roast’ format. Most actors prefer to go on The Kapil Sharma Show, which has a milder format. Akshay Kumar recently chose to promote Rustom on TKSS and not CNB.

The root of the problem might stem from an incident on CNB this past May, when Akshay, along with the Housefull 3 cast, made an appearance on the show. The star was reportedly irritated by the racist comments of comedian Siddharth Jadhav, who called Lisa Haydon a ‘black African’ and said that she resembled a kangaroo (as she hails from Australia). Akshay was upset because Lisa isn’t fluent in Hindi and he felt it was in bad taste to make fun of a person who didn’t even understand the jokes. He made the point, but later AK’s co-star Abhishek Bachchan said that it was all a prank.

However, an insider says Akshay skipping CNB has nothing to do with what happened last time, or the flavour of the show, “While it’s true that Akshay is not going on Krushna’s show, the reason is something else. CNB is a humour-centric show and Rustom, the film he is promoting, has a very serious subject. He thinks it’s the wrong fit for a film like this and promoting it on that show, wont help the film. Rustom is a serious crime-drama and Akshay is very clear how he wants to promote it.”

Brushing off speculation of AK being upset with Krushna, the source adds, “He is a friend of Akshay’s and they have acted together in a few movies, including Entertainment.”

Confirming that the Rustom team will be shooting for TKSS, the source adds, “Yes, the Rustom team will be on The Kapil Sharma Show, but it’s not going to be all laughs and gags. The entire episode will have a theme based on the armed forces. Akshay plays Naval Commander Rustom Pavri of the Indian Navy in the movie and TKSS has scripted its format to suit the film.”
