Being the actress’ directorial debut, surely it seems as though a lot has been revealed in the trailer, or is it what she wants us to believe?
Konkona Sen Sharma started working on her directorial venture last year as she made plans of helming a film. While she did reunite with her ex husband, Ranvir Shorey for this film. With an ensemble cast including Kalki Koechlin, Vikrant Massey, Gulshan Devaiah, Tillotama Shome, Jim Sarbh, Tanuja Mukherjee and Om Puri, the trailer is finally out. Konkona has sent her debut film to compete at the Toronto International Film Festival. While the actress turned director spoke about how the story of The death in the Gunj revolves around a boy (Vikrant Massey’s) complex mind and his conflicted ideas.
After seeing the trailer, we gather a lot more eerie vibes from the trailer alone. The ensemble cast itself is so bloody strong that yes, it has us captivated. In the trailer, we see how, set in the 1979, Vikrant Massey aka Shuttu has a lot to deal with from friendship to romance to growing up as a man. While we see how everyone likes to mess with this young boy in the family, a lot of stuff is unraveling at the same time. It does have an eerie feel to it because of their drunk calling the spirits in the house and Massey’s vision of the same. His romantic scenes with Kalki are quite dreamy. However, there is one twist. A death.
Now this death is something that suddenly changes the whole setting of the plot. Hence, it is quite an interesting twist. However, we hope Miss Sharma hasn’t revealed a bit too much in the trailer itself as our heads have already started racing with questions and plausible endings. But we’ll let you have a loot at the trailer as well. So check out the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments section below!
