This past week has made Natasha and I feel like we were like Energiser bunnies, constantly on the move running from one show to the next and cramming some behind the scenes action in between. But we learnt quite a few handy things along the way. For one, flats at fashion week are a MUST. Secondly, we’d be nowhere if it wasn’t for our trusty battery packs. Thirdly, the energy backstage before a show is so electric, it’s amazing the amount of work that go into a 20 minute show. And lastly, if you want bridal couture, there’s no one who knows it better that Swarovski Crystals. But if there was one take away from FDCI presents India Couture Week 2016 it would be the one trick on how to ensure genuineness when it comes to the crystals on your bridal wear. Swarovski has a holographic tag and a 16 digit tracking code on any product that contains genuine crystals, so that you know for sure that you are getting the right bling for your buck. So, always remember to #AskForTheTag!
Because this year marked Swarovski India’s 15 year anniversary, they joined hands with 3 big designers like we mentioned earlier and we were amazed with the level of detailing, refinement and subtlety seen in their collection. Here’s a roundup of our favourite looks!
The Last Dance Of The Courtesan by Tarun Tahiliani was a tribute to the original glitzy girls, the courtesans who were the keepers of art and culture.
The New Age Royal as showcased by Gaurav Gupta had garments that had a balance of structure and flow embellished in a dramatic way. He even used a Swarovski innovation- the crystal mesh for the first time ever.
Kehkashaan was an ode to the royal Czars of Russia in that era of extravagance and excess brought together brilliantly with artisan work from Rohit Bal‘s place of birth, Kashmir.
