Paul McCartney was born on 14 June 1942 to Mary Patricia, a nurse and James McCartney a cotton salesman. He is the elder of two siblings. His brother Michael McCartney is also a well-known musician. During his childhood, McCartney studied music and art, and later enrolled in Liverpool institute for boys. McCartney was quite attached to his mother and her sudden death in 1956 left him traumatized. In 1958 he met John Lennon in a church quire and the two formed a skiffle group and later founded the renowned “Beatles” band. McCartney has sold over 50 gold disc and 100 million albums. He is known as the “most successful composer and recording artist of all time” in the history of UK charts.

Interesting facts

The name of the band “Wings” was inspired by McCartney’s second born Stella McCartney. During her birth, both mother and daughter were in critical condition. As McCartney sat in the waiting room, during the C-section he prayed that his daughter is born on “the wings of an angel”.
